SickKids Research & Learning Tower reaches 10th floor.

Research discoveries lead to recoveries. Just ask six-year-old Elijah. He recently had brain surgery at SickKids to treat his severe epilepsy. The surgery was possible, in part, because of the groundbreaking epilepsy research taking place here into the disease. That research has included how best to treat children with drug-resistant epilepsy.

When the new 21-storey SickKids Research & Learning Tower is complete in 2013, it will generate even more breakthroughs like the ones that helped Elijah. The Tower will, for the first time, provide a single home for the more than 2,000 researchers at SickKids – allowing them to work together like never before with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

SickKids is undertaking a three-year, $200-million fundraising campaign to build this Tower from the ground up. As the building rises, the excitement for the future of child health is also growing – among patients, researchers and staff.
